Designers are trained to identify friction and inefficiencies in products. Over time, this pattern recognition becomes instinctive. See a confusing flow. Spot a misaligned CTA. Notice awkward copy. The brain immediately jumps to what should be fixed.


This instinct is useful inside a team.

It becomes dangerous outside of it.


Most critiques of products happen without access to internal context. No visibility into business goals, technical constraints, legal requirements, legacy decisions, or prior experiments that shaped the current UI.


Yet opinions are still delivered with certainty.

Calling a UI bad without understanding intent, constraints, or outcomes ignores the reality of product development.


You can dislike an interface and still be wrong about why it exists.
